London Mithraeum

Ancient Roman temple beneath the City

★ 4.6 (Google Maps) | Bank, Central London

Hidden below a sleek Bloomberg office lies the remains of a Roman temple to Mithras, discovered in the 1950s. The immersive light-and-sound installation brings the ruins to life, while upstairs exhibits showcase ancient artefacts found on site. Entry is free, but booking is recommended.

Tip: The Mithraeum is compact—plan to spend around 30–45 minutes. Combine it with a visit to nearby St Stephen Walbrook church or the Bank of England Museum.
